FIELD DAY 2010

Thanks to everyone who helped to raise $42,564.72 and make the 2010 CA Field Day a great success.  This money helps with extra expenses beyond budgeted items.

School Supplies

The bus drivers have asked that students riding the bus to and from school not use book sacks with wheels.  They are too large for the bus aisle.

CELL PHONE POLICY

Students are not allowed to have or use cellular phones on campus during the school hours.  If a student has a cell phone, it must be left in the vehicle or in the school office during school hours and their name must be on the phone.  This is for the student’s protection. If a student is caught with or using a cell phone, the following rules will apply:

1st Offense—a $25.00 fine and phone will be returned when paid.

2nd Offense—a $50.00 fine and phone will be returned when paid.

3rd Offense—a $75.00 fine and the phone will be held until the end of the school year.

SUMMER WORK

The following is a list of jobs that need to be done before school begins; Cleaning doors, Cleaning flowerbeds, Paperwork for teachers

Important Back to School Information

Orientation for grades K3-12 will be Thursday, July 29th:    This is a very important time for you to be informed about this school year.  It takes extra time for the teacher and office to get you up to date.  We do understand when emergencies come up and you cannot attend.   K3-3rd Grades will meet from 5:00 to 5:30.  4th-6th grades will meet from 5:30 to 6:00. There will be a mandatory assembly for K3-12th grades from 6:15 to 7:00 pm.  7th-9th grades will meet from 7:00 to 8:15.  10th-12th grades will meet from 8:15-9:30.  All elementary parents will visit their child’s teacher and receive any special instructions.  Parents will also sign up for class parties.  JH & HS Parents (grades 7-12) will receive their child’s schedule from their child’s homeroom teacher and then visit each class.  Changes to a student’s schedule must be made by the 3rd day of school.  NO STUDENTS ARE TO COME ORIENTATION NIGHT,  THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE CAMPUS!  IF THEY DO, THEY WILL SIT WITH MRS. DOOLEY THE ENTIRE NIGHT.

SCHOOL UNIFORM:  Parker Uniforms or VSR Shirts Plus will not be at Centreville Academy on orientation night with uniforms.  Parker Uniforms will mail your uniforms to you at home and you must go to VSR Shirts, Curry Pharmacy or FS Williams Country Store for your uniform needs.  Enclosed is an information sheet on their addresses and telephone numbers. Uniform shirts may also be purchased from the Booster Club.  They have several shirts to choose from.  Order forms were sent out with report cards.  We have extra order forms in the office.

PAYMENT BOOKLETS:    Each family was mailed a payment booklet in June.  If you have not received your booklet, please call the office immediately.  This booklet contains payment forms for all fees that will be due during the 2010-2011 school year.  The forms include the family name, the amount due, the due date, and the late fees due.  Please note that all tuition and bus fees are due on the 1st of each month.  The first late fee of $25 will be applied after 15 days.  The second late fee of $25 will be applied after 30 days. The forms can be mailed along with your payment to the address shown or can be brought to the school.  Remember if you mail your payments, we must receive them by the due date or a late fee will be applied.

CLASSROOM FEES:   Classroom fees for Grades K5-12 for the 2010-2011 school year will be $200 per student.  The classroom fee for K3 and K4 will be $150 per student.  You may write one check to cover the class fees for all your children.  This includes textbook rental fees, workbooks, insurance, library fee, etc.  Parents/students are strongly urged to cover textbooks to prevent damage.  We recommend covering them with a heavy paper cover, which can be purchased at Office Depot.  Satin and plastic covers are not recommended as they cause damage to the books.  Each student is responsible for the condition of his or her books.  With the cost of textbooks soaring (some as much as $100 each), protecting the condition of our books is essential to maintaining this fee amount.  Thank you for helping us.  Classroom fees and tuition/bus fees may be mailed to the school to avoid standing in long lines on orientation night.  All family membership fees should be written separately.

CHANGE OF INFORMATION:    if any changes in address, phone, place of employment, or emergency numbers occur during the year or if they have changed since your registration form was completed, please notify the office so that we can keep our records up to date.

CHANGE OF SCHOOL ATTENDANCE:    If you are registered to attend Centreville Academy for the 2010-2011 school session and your plans have changed, please contact our office by phone, fax or mail.  The office needs to know this as soon as possible because some of our classes are near their limit and waiting lists exist.  Written notification should be sent by mail to PO Box 70, Centreville, MS  39631 or fax it to 601-645-5940.

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING:    The annual membership meeting will be Tuesday, September 21st at 7:00 pm.  Board nominations must be given to the Board six weeks prior to the membership meeting (August 10th).  They may be mailed to the school and note the address or fax number above on this letter.

PARKING AT THE FOOTBALL FIELD:    NO ONE is allowed to drive through the gate for any reason for any event at the football field/track, unless approved by Coach Hurst.  This includes HOME fans and VISITORS!  This creates a dangerous situation for fans.                              Coach Hurst

AFTER SCHOOL CARE:  Centreville Academy will offer after school care.  After school care will begin in August of the 2010-11 school year and will be available on school days from 3:00-5:30 pm.  The cost is $5.00 for 1 student, $8.00 for 2 students and $10 for 3 students.  On the days that we are dismissed at 12:00, the fee will be $11 for 1 student, $16 for 2 students and $20 for 3 students.  The fee must be paid on or prior to the day the student attends after care.  This program is for paying students only.  Only students in after care or at a school sponsored activity will be allowed on campus after school hours.  There will be no “hanging out”.  Absolutely no exceptions will be made.

IOU’s:    Students who need to make an IOU for break or lunch must first call a parent for permission.  IOU’s are for emergencies only.  Please plan ahead.  If a student has an IOU that has not been paid within 3 days, he/she will not be able to make another IOU until it is paid.  This chronic problem is a nuisance to the office and takes away from valuable time needed to complete work.  You may send a check payable to Centreville Academy on the first school day of the month to cover your child’s lunch for the entire month, or you may pay on a weekly basis for elementary students.  Menus are sent out weekly to the elementary students and via email through the office so you can go over it with your child.

DANCE 101   Dance classes for 2010-2011 will be offered again at Centreville Academy for ages 3 through grade 12.  Classes will be on Tuesdays during P.E. time.  Classes are in tap, ballet, jazz, and tumbling.  The fee is $35 per month per child or $175 for the first semester.  You may pay each semester or for the full year.  There will be a table set up in the Elementary building during orientation, July 29th. Please come by to register your child and receive information about classes and important dates. Call “Ms” Sandy if you have any questions at 601-341-3642.
